Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t been very active lately. ^^;
I’ve had quite a year so far.

During the spring, I spent about 5 weeks house-hunting with my husband. The market was really hot and houses were being snatched up within a few days of being listed, so we had to make a snappy decision as well and ended up buying an older house that had everything we wanted, but wasn’t in the best of condition.

After that, we went on a grand road trip across the United States and saw all kinds of things, including: The Grand Canyon, The Painted Desert & Petrified Forest, Taos Pueblo, La Brea Tar Pits, Yellowstone, Wall Drug, Devil’s Tower, Mount Rushmore, and the Badlands. I definitely recommend seeing Yellowstone, as it has some extremely unique sights and Old Faithful, of course.

When we got back to our home, we had to move out of our apartment and into our new house, which wasn’t too bad since they’re only half a mile apart. The lifting part was pretty tiring though. We also had to paint the interior of our house since the walls hadn’t been painted in many years and the living/dining rooms were the craziest shades of blue. Now I’m glad to say that the living room is a classy light brown and the dining room is a sensuous scarlet.

We also had bug problems for the first few weeks since there were gaps here and there in the windows and the doors. I plugged up most of them, but we still get plenty of random insects like crickets and spiders. I have no idea how they’re getting in. :stare: The bug problem was worst in our basement where we have plenty of camel crickets (also known as “sprickets” because they kinda resemble spiders). I set up some duct tape traps and they’re getting caught now.

The other day I found a large house spider (tegenaria domestica) down there that was like 2 inches in diameter! Like where the heck are they coming in from?!? :frustrated:I thought all the holes to the outside were sealed, but maybe not. I just need to accept my role in life as perpetual bug catcher/killer. So besides that, things are going well. I’m enjoying my brand new fridge and stove and Roomba. I haven’t finished unpacking everything, but I’ll have to work on that before my father-in-law comes to visit next month. I haven’t been working on much art lately due to fixing up the house, so that’s why it’s been a bit of an art desert over here.

Oh, and I went to see a Tokio Hotel concert in Chicago last month. Tokio Hotel’s been my favorite band for the last 8 years, and I never got to see them perform until now, so I was extremely elated. :love: Seriously, I can die happy now. Bill Kaulitz was gorgeous and a wonderful showman. :drool: :happybounce:

I also saw Taylor Swift’s 1989 concert in Santa Clara, which was an absolutely incredible, spectacular show. I even got to see Julia Roberts! It had plenty of awesome dancing and creative props and a rotating platform and interactive light-up bracelets. :woohoo:

So great year so far. Now tell me about your year so far if you wish. I’m all ears! :eager:
